Thank you for expressing interest in the Junior National Cycling Association (JNCA pronounced [jin-ka]). JNCA's mission is more than about the bike. To understand JNCA's mission you must understand our 3Cs; Community, Culture, and Cycling.

Community - a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, and have a common culture. Let's take a look at this definition to see what it means to you and JNCA. Locality is a very important aspect as it defines a physical location or boundary by which we all associate ourselves. In the case of locality, JNCA emphasis the local relationships among our members, fostering friendship and family. But within community you have a common culture, the second aspect of JNCA.

Culture - the attitudes and behavior that are characteristic of a particular social group or organization. JNCA is more than about a Cycling Culture, we are about education and preservation of our youth. Creating an environment that is nurturing and developmental. To borrow from a well worn cliché, "Today's Children are the Leaders of tomorrow's World." This means that they must be well informed on how the decisions that they make today affects how they live tomorrow. They must value having strong commitments, an unswayable work ethic, holding education, and learning as paramount. Central to these tenants are understanding anything worth having requires hard work and commitment to see it through.

How does JNCA instill these values? Through the use of positive mentors focusing on social events, clinics, workshops, and programs. It comes down to two basic choices that any of us have, "We can choose to let the World define us, or we can choose to define the World." At JNCA we are about having members that define the World!

Cycling is the last, but not least of JNCA's core pillars. Anyone that has truly been involved with cycling for any period of time can tell you that cycling - the act of riding your bicycle, has a profound affect on every other aspect of life. It embodies being healthy, aware of your surroundings, curious in all things, and driven to continually improve the self. Cycling is a positive tool that has profound affects for a lifetime.
